See ya, Heat. Hello, Autumn!

tumblr_m9ojk3ubbV1r363pgo1_500Well, August is at a end. Finally. While it is my birthday month, it has never been one of my favorite months, considering in the South, school starts in mid-August. Yes, even for college!

Autumn, be good to me. This is my favorite time of the year, weather and holiday wise. I mean, isn’t everyones favorite holiday Halloween? Certainly is mine. I love how all the channels have halloween movies streaming and it’s time to put more clothes on and less dying in an Alabama heat wave.

Anyway, with August ending, it is also a time for school to begin. Groan, I know. Besides starting classes, August has been uneventful. I went to the beach for my birthday, and got macarons and an eiffel tower keyhook stand from Paris. I am spoiled. Not to mention, I got a load of books. I’d have gotten more, I think, if Emma’s package had EVER arrived *glares at usps who lost my bday present*

Anywaaaaay, inspired by Emma’s monthly favorite’s post, I think I shall start my own with the impending new season.

FAVORITE BOOKS

7719248Honestly, I loved Tiger Lily. It was so great and heartbreaking at the same time. I love fairy tales, and this wasn’t any different. Narrated by Tinker Bell, this delves into the love story of Tiger Lily and Peter Pan, before Wendy showed her little England butt in Neverland. This isn’t the cutesy happy ending in fairytales. The characters you root for don’t get what they want, and people get hurt and people die.  AND I loved it. But ask anyone, I love reading tortured characters, as well as torturing my own. You can read my full review here.

15745753The 5th Wave starts off on the evening of the fifth wave with Cassie Sullivan, who believes she’s the last person in the world. Her brother taken, her father killed, Cassie navigates the backwoods and steers clear of the waste of what used to be civilization. Unbeknownst to her, she is not alone. A Silencer follows her, waiting for the opportune moment to kill her. Elsewhere, we have Zombie, a soldier training to eradicate the infected that will bring about the 5th Wave. I love alien invasions, and this was certainly no different. I read this in mere hours and had trouble putting it down, even taking it with me to the kitchen when I wanted to get something from the fridge! You can read my full review here.

FAVORITE MOVIES

Honestly, I haven’t really watched many movies this month, but these are the more memorable ones I’ve seen this month.

15745753Seeing as how the Mortal Instruments are among my top favorite series ever, I had to see the movie. And honestly, I loved it. I mean, no movie is going to be perfect because with books you get to set up the entire world in your imagination and whatnot. In a movie, you can’t do that. Unless you’re the one directing it, then you can. Despite that I felt that many scenes were rushed through without a breath before the next impending disaster happened, I really enjoyed this movie. I had some qualms about Jamie Bower Campbell, but after seeing his performance, I am sold.

I really loved The Hobbit. I’ve never read the books, but I’ve seen all of the LOTR movies and despite the people I know who moaned and groaned about this becoming a movie and how it was portrayed, I really liked it. It was easy to get into, and it kept my attention throughout the entire film. I was even a bit sad when it ended, because I enjoyed watching this world and these characters immensely.

FAVORITE SHOWS

15745753I had been seeing graphics all over Tumblr, and when the DVDs came out, I threw them into my queue (what a weird word, I can never spell it without looking). The first episode was a bit WHAT? HUH? WHATS HAPPENING? but by the end of the second episode, I was completely enthralled and in love with the story line. It was a bit hard to grasp at first, but I easily caught on and came to love all the characters that Tatiana Maslany portayed. Really fabulous show and I can’t wait to see more.

FAVORITE MUSIC

I don’t normally listen to this type of music very often, but after listening to Gold by Victoria Justice, I was sold. It’s catchy. Yano, like disease.

I heard this a couple of weeks ago when searching for Mortal Instruments music before the movie came out. This immediately got my attention, I love the melody and the lyrics. It’s not rock-out music, but definitely something you can sway too and belt out lyrics like you’re Adelle throwing a concert.

FAVORITE BEAUTY PRODUCTS

Frizz-Ease

I love John Frieda. I use this every time I do my hair. You can get this nearly anywhere, including Walmart, for 4-6 dollars. I’ve had this bottle for a year now, I think, and I’m only now getting the end of the bottle. Not to mention, this smells divine.

This is my favorite color. Really, it looks great with everything. You can wear it to class, or even a night out on the town.

 48 Lash by MAC

Longer wispy bundles with an even edge create a flirty fringe that verges on the dramatic. These are the holy grail of lashes, especially if you’re like me and think yours are thin and stubby. Why is it always guys blessed with natural long beautiful lashes? It’s entirely unfair.

Wellllll, there are my favorites for the month of August. What are YOUR favorite shows/movies/apps/assessories/whatever this month?
