30 Day Challenge, Day 6

Normally, I’d say Winter, but you’d have to be aware I live in Alabama. My version of Winter is 30 degrees, wear a jacket and go about your way. Snow? Yeah, right. Only in February, and it’s more of a dusting that leaves everyone scrambling for water, bread, and other supplies. Then you get a couple hours of snow that melts before nightfall, and out come T-shirts saying, “I SURVIVED THE SNOWPOCALYPSE.”

With a real winter of heavy snowfall and freezing your tush off, I’ll go with Autumn/Fall. Specifically, late autumn. The leaves have all changed colors and are slowly falling from the trees. Gorgeous. You can crunch, crunch, crunch your way through the driveway and dive into a bundle of leaves someone just raked together. There’s a nip to the air so you aren’t sweating to death, either – which, in Alabama, is 354 days of the year, if not more.

Jack Frost is starting to wake from hibernation, but it’s not too cold, so you can still go out for leisure walks around the park. Everything is full of color and romance is in the air, everyone hoping to find a special someone to cuddle up to in front of a toasty fire pit to roast marshmallows. The smell of apple pie baking and the beginning of Christmas shopping (after everyone loses their manners at Black Friday).
